how did Prince William meet Kate Middleton? 

They met at St Andrew's University

Prince William first met Kate Middleton when they attended St Andrew's University in Scotland in 2001. (Golf fans probably know St Andrew's better as one of the locations used for the British Open GolfChampionship.)

At first Kate and William were on the same history of art course but William later switched to geography. For several years, they shared accommodation with friends.

Kate Middleton is six months older than William and is credited with persuading him to keep going as he struggled to adjust to university life. They both graduated in 2005 and after the ceremony celebrated together with both families. The couple's relationship was exposed in 2005 when they were photographed together while skiing in Klosters, Switzerland.

The relationship appeared to end in 2007 but gradually they were seen more together and speculation has recently been rife that they would become engaged.
